What Happened to my Husband?
We have a trip coming up and Ken planned the whole entire thing.
Flights, hotel, restaurants, activities. He booked everything, bought our tickets for all the events and has a day by day plan. Today he told me he was researching one of the things we’re doing because of my anxiety. He wanted to make sure it wasn’t going to be too much for me or at least make sure we avoided the things that would trigger my anxiety.
I literally looked at him and said... what is happening to you?
Because I am the worry wart, the over-thinker, the over-planner. Not him. I am so bad that I will get so much into the trip planning, the price comparing, that I will nearly say forget it and want to cancel the trip all together. I’ve done sucked the fun right out of the whole thing.
And now he’s over there doing research for my anxiety and I’m sitting here like whatever, it’ll be fine.
I think we’ve rubbed off on each other and neither of us even noticed it happening.
I used to be such an introvert. Like... bad. We went to a dinner recently with like 100 or so people in the room, mostly doctors and their spouses, a lot of people we’ve known through business for years but I had never actually met in person. And I wasn’t nervous at all Hands weren’t clammy, I wasn’t having one of my cold sweats. I just talked to people and I felt completely fine.
Though I’ll be honest, I do realize my comfort came from having him by my side. If I was in that room without him… forget it, I probably wouldn’t have gone in the first place.
Almost twenty nine years together if you count before we got married and ignore thevcouple of breakups in there (omg we were so young and dumb and broke up over the sillest things). And somewhere in all those years we became a little bit of each other I think.
He worries more and I worry less. Not in all situations of course. I am the optimist one when he is stressed out and he feels unsure about what direction things are going.
Oh I haven’t told you about my recent manifestation that I made the other day that was pretty darn bold. I will wait and see if it comes true before I share it out loud. I guess I am superstitious and feel like it will only come true if I keep it private for now. Even though I have little sticky notes throughout the house declaring so. Hopefully no one catches any in the background of my social media content!
Anyways, I used to worry about everything and he rarely worried about anything. Look at us now.
I don’t know if that’s just what happens after so many years of marriage or if we just genuinely got lucky finding someone who balances each other out so perfectly.
Either way I’m not complaining. Even if it does make me look at him sometimes and go... who even are you right now?
